eSIM validity and activation, explained
Understand installation, activation and expiry so the plan you choose covers the days you actually need it.
Installation adds the eSIM to your phone
Installation is the step that adds a profile to your device. It prepares the phone to use the service, but you should not assume that every plan starts its validity at installation.
Read the supplied instructions first. They explain the relevant activation rule, supported setup steps and any time limit for installing or activating the profile.
Activation rules tell you when the clock starts
Different plans can use different starting conditions, such as installation or a first connection to a supported network. The rule shown for your selected plan is the one that matters.
A headline such as “7 days” is incomplete without that starting condition. If the catalogue says the activation rule is unknown, ask for clarification before buying rather than guessing when the period will begin.
Match coverage and validity to your itinerary
Count the days you need mobile data, including arrival and departure. Check whether the plan describes calendar days, a timed period or a specific expiry. Do not assume a reset at midnight unless its terms say so.
For a trip with several stops, check the coverage list as well as the duration. A regional name is a useful label, but the listed countries determine whether a destination is included.
Check the expiry shown for your issued plan
After the plan is issued, use the status and expiry information available in your private order together with the installation instructions. Keep the private link and activation details secure.
If your plans change, check the specific product’s top-up or extension conditions. Adding data does not necessarily extend validity, and support for either feature should be confirmed for that plan.
